Covered with Love
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Relief for Children Devastated by Drug Abuse
Through our association with the local authorities who intervene in times of arrest for drug violations, it has come to our attention that there are children who are actually removed from their homes where methamphetamine have been prepared and used. The poison of the drug prevents them from taking any of their belongings with them when they leave. Often the parents are taken to jail. In that event, the children are left without even the basic necessities. Volunteers have created care packages for children who find themselves in this crisis situation. A homemade blanket is placed in each care package along with a stuffed animal, personal hygiene items, etc. In 2009, the DCIC provided 135 Covered With Love packages to local authorities for use during this time of crisis.
