Morgan Hefty

Morgan Hefty joined the DCIC Board March 2017. He is a third generation State Farm Insurance agent in Auburn. Morgan and his wife Becky have four children: Paxton, Wyatt, Lucy and Cooper. They attend County Line Church. Morgan has served in leadership roles with several other community organizations. He believes in giving back to the community and helping those who may need physical or spiritual guidance during tough times. Morgan enjoys hunting, fishing, and watching his children play sports.

Joe Heins

Joe Heins has served with the DCIC Board since 2012. He serves as Executive Director of Woodburn Christian Children Home and serves on the Board of Directors for both Golden Years Homestead and West African Christian Mission. He was formerly Senior Minister of Auburn Church of Christ. Joe and his wife Vikki have been married 20+ years and they have four children. Joe enjoys golf, reading and baking.
​Joe has a heart to experience God’s grace as the Lord uses DCIC to meet people’s spiritual, emotional and physical needs.

Nelson Heisler

Nelson Heisler has served on the DCIC board of directors since 2016. He and his wife attend    St. Mark's Lutheran Church of St. Joe and he chairs the community benevolence committee. Nelson says he is impressed with the vision of DCIC and the community needs that are being addressed. He believes we all need to help where we we are able. Nelson enjoy fishing with his grand children, gardening, and woodworking.

Carol Klink

Carol Klink has served with DCIC since the ministry’s inception in 2009. She and her husband Wayne own and operate Klink Trucking, Inc. Married 50+ years, they have two married daughters, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.   Carol and Wayne enjoy worshiping with the Stroh Church of Christ.   Carol enjoys quilting and knitting. Carol’s heart for the DCIC is helping children and adults to be all they can be.

BOB KRAFFT
Bob Krafft began serving on the DCIC Board January of 2020.   He and his wife Teri, a teacher at Lakewood Park Christian School, reside outside Auburn.  They have been blessed with three children and four grandchildren which are his favorite things in this world.  He loves his LORD Jesus Christ who saved him spiritually in 1979 as a lost 15 year-old and then physically in 2013 with a life-saving liver transplant.
Bob brings over thirty years of non profit leadership to our board, having previously served Youth For Christ Campus Life and the National Military History Center.  He currently serves as CEO of the YMCA of DeKalb County.  Hearten House has been blessed by the YMCA welcoming our residents to use the facility.

BrEnt Whan

Brent Whan joined the DCIC Board of Directors in 2016. He has a background in law enforcement and is currently employed with the Department of Child Services. He and his wife have two children. They attend Lakewood Park Baptist Church. He enjoys sports and outdoor activities including basketball and target-shooting. Brent has a passion for the community and he wants to see more services for those in need.

Amy demske

Amy Demske joined the DCIC Board of Directors in early 2018.  She is a real estate broker with RE/MAX Results and is owner of Garrett Country Club and Lake James Golf Club with her husband David.  Amy is active in the community and also serves as a member of Garrett Redevelopment Partnership, DeKalb County Council, Garrett Library Board of Trustees, and Garrett Tri Kappa.  A native Buckeye, Amy resides in Garrett with her family.

jacqueline burkhart

Jackie Burkhart joined the DCIC Board of Directors in early 2018.   Jackie and her husband John moved to DeKalb County in 1988 where she continued her career in the medical field.  After retiring in 2003 she has found personal fulfillment through many volunteer opportunities.  She attends First Christian, Disciples of Christ in Auburn and serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors and President of the CWF Woman's Group as well as being involved in program development through the Pastor's Cabinet.  Jackie first became involved in DCIC through the Cup of Cold Water program through First Christian.  Her priorities are faith and relationship with God and family.  Jackie and John have adult children and grandchildren who bring her many joys!

Janel Whan

​Janel Whan began serving on the DCIC Board of Directors in 2018.  She was born and raised in Auburn, returning to the area in 1997.   Janel is retired from the DeKalb Co. Council on Aging and attends Destiny Family of Faith in Kendallville.  She and her husband Phil have 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
